So the blog has been quiet – but I have still been busy working on various things on the web… One small product of these efforts is the simple but much improved website for Suds Laundrette. There is a much bigger project in development, but you are going to have to watch this space since it is all under wraps at the moment!
So after a hiatus of almost a year - both from the blog and from putting any effort into taking photos – I replaced my ageing Canon EOS 300D today with a Nikon D5000 and took a whole set of photos out in the New Forest to try out the new camera and the three lenses that came in the purchase:
Nikkor VR 18-55mm for my general usage (it came bundled with the camera)
Tamron 70-300mm for portraits and wildlife
Tamron 10-24mm for wide angles of buildings, rooms (for work) and landscapes.
So far I am very happy with the camera and thought the occasion warranted the blog being made live again too – maybe I will do a better job of getting interesting content on here. The ‘TopPhoto’ series of posts will also be continuing where it left off and right now I am going to post my favourite shot of the day featuring Bitza (my dog):
OK – So I have been getting carried away with things, and not made any postings… so I thought I would warm myself back up into blogging by posting a new (old) photo from my Top Photos collection. This was taken driving into the Masai Mara, Kenya.
Just been going through some of my ‘starred items’ in Google Reader – things that looked interesting but I didnt have time to read when I first saw them. What has stuck out is this honest, and genuinely useful advice on career options from my friend Sameer Vasta.
As I am just about to leave in the car for Switzerland I am posting today’s photo. It was taken just above St. Luc in Switzerland – the same area I am about to visit. In the photo are my grandparents who sadly passed away last year.
I think it is a beautiful photo that shows that captures the experience of the snow in that part of Switzerland. Hopefully I will be updating Flickr with more photos of scenery like this over the next week or so.
I’ve been to Barcelona a few times. It’s a beautiful city – and the Sagrada Familia is something that you will remember if you ever explore it. Each of the towers has a staircase like this – and when you climb up it the thought does enter your mind, “What will happen if I fall down the gap in the middle?”.
New York is famous for it’s hot dog vendors… this photo was taken in December 2007 and shows a different type of ‘hot’ dog! Somewhere in Soho I think. I just think it is funny.
This blog is my personal website. What I say here is my opinion. It does not necessarily reflect the opinion or position of the companies I work for, the charities I volunteer for, or other people I know.
If you don't like something I said, please let me know, or leave a constructive comment. But it is unlikely that is was my intention to offend you. I'm just not that guy.

On Saturday, Singapore welcomed young athletes from around the world in a ceremony opening the inaugural Youth Olympic Games. This is the first ever Summer Youth Olympics, an event designed to be celebrated in the same tradition of the Olympic Games - the major difference being that the competitors are all between 14 and 18 years of age. This year, 3,500 ath […]
Every year, meteor Swift-Tuttle bestows us with a spectacular gift: the Perseid showers that can be seen all across the sky. You can find more formidable photos of this year’s Perseid meteors in our photo search. If you want to give it a go yourself, you still have time until about August 24th to capture the coruscant light trails. To get y […]
I’ve spent a lot of time on red-eye flights, especially flights to Heathrow. This excellent Abstract City blog post by Christoph Niemann hit very close to home. […]
Word is Meryl Streep is being lined up to play Maggie in an upcoming FilmFour biopic. Jim Broadbent will be hovering by the drinks cupboard as Dennis. Despite the lefty tendency of the Channel Four crowd, their film-wing are pretty good at sticking to the facts. The film will focus on the weeks running up to the Falklands. Despite the fact Mamma Mia’s direct […]
